Huntsville’s New 2-Day Music Festival Has Its Name
Update: Huntsville Music Officer Matt Mandrella has announced that the city’s upcoming 2-day music festival will be called South Star Music Festival.
More details, including the festival lineup, are expected to be announced later this month.
Original Story: City officials met with representatives from C3 Presents to announce that a large two-day music festival will be coming to John Hunt Park later this year.
City officials said we would receive more information about Huntsville’s new musical festival in April, including its name, dates, and headlining acts.
The music festival was announced last year and was expected to debut in 2025, but C3 Presents and city officials have worked hard to make the festival possible in 2024.
This will be Huntsville’s first big musical festival since Big Spring Jam bid farewell in 2011. The event will be held at the newly renovated John Hunt Park, which has quickly become a hot spot in Huntsville thanks to its new playground, running course, and more.

“This is a great opportunity to work with a world-class festival producer to bring a world-class event to a world-class park. We can’t wait to see the lineup,” said Mayor Tommy Battle.
C3 Presents is no stranger to putting on big music events. It is responsible for shows like Lollapalooza and Bonnaroo and has also put on major events like the NFL Draft.
Speaking about the upcoming music festival, Huntsville Music Officer Matt Mandrella said, “This event is going to take our music city aspirations to the next level and continue establishing Huntsville as a destination for live music fans.”
