Stadium Commons Development To Begin Construction in Summer 2024

Huntsville’s City Council has approved a new Stadium Commons development project that will be located along Memorial Parkway near Joe Davis Stadium.
The mixed-use development will begin construction in Summer 2024 and is set to improve the area. The Huntsville Commons development will include:

The development will begin in Summer 2024 and will take place over three different phases. The first phase will focus on the hotel and retail spaces, followed by the office space, housing, and parking garage.
The City of Huntsville is planning to lease 300 spaces in the parking garage and expects to recoup its $10.5 million investment in those spaces after four and a half years.
The city expects the Stadium Commons development to boost the local economy with $32.5 million in new taxes. Even better, the city is expecting to get a $22 million return on its investment over the course of a decade.
“It brings much-needed uses to support the ever-growing sports and entertainment events in and around John Hunt Park as well as the surrounding neighborhood,” said Shane Davis, Huntsville’s Director of Urban and Economic Development.
For those who have lived in Huntsville for a while, the Stadium Commons development will be along the parkway where the old Hollywood 18 used to be.
If you’re new to the area, the development will be between Drake Avenue and Airport Road in front of Joe Davis Stadium and across the parkway from the Redstone Federal Credit Union branch.
The development is also going to be adjacent to the John Hunt soccer fields, which are home to a variety of different sporting events and can seat up to 2,000 people. John Hunt Park also recently added a cross-country course, improved walking trails, a renovated Kid’s Space playground, and a new skatepark.
Stadium Commons development is expected to be completed by July 2026.
