The 3 Best Places to Get Ice Cream in Huntsville
Handel’s

Handel’s is hands down some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had in my life. Their homemade ice cream is made fresh every day in the store, and they’ve been doing it since 1945.
Sounds like a recipe for success to me.
For a long time, the only Handel’s location was out in Madison, but a Huntsville location opened up in 2023 in Jones Valley near Target.
It’s only about 5 minutes from my house, and I go at least once a week during the summer. My favorite flavors are Buckeye, Chocholic Chunk, and Graham Central Station.
It truly is one of the best ice cream shops in Huntsville.
Big Spoon Creamery

Big Spoon Creamery started in Birmingham and made its way up to Huntsville in 2023. It’s located in Downtown Huntsville next to MELT and serves some of the best ice cream in Huntsville.
It’s hard to pick a flavor because there is a wide variety, but you can’t go wrong with the Cookies’ N Cream or the Peanut Butter Caramel Crunch. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can try the Goat Cheese Strawberry Hibiscus!
My favorite time to go to Big Spoon Creamery is after I’ve just had a delicious dinner in Downtown Huntsville. But honestly, there is never a bad time to stop by!
Oscar Moon’s

If you like milkshakes and the feeling of a vintage ice cream parlor, then you’ll want to head to Oscar Moon’s. It’s located at Stovehouse and is the perfect spot for a sweet treat after a date night with my wife.
Of course, the milkshakes are delicious, but they’re also extravagant, which is part of the reason it’s one of the best ice cream shops in Huntsville. And the inside is decorated like an old-school ice cream parlor, too!
Oh, and they have some delicious ice cream floats, including Butter Beer, for my fellow Harry Potter Fans.
Shake wise, I like the Campfire Shiver Shake and the Scout’s Mint. But honestly, I get a different flavor every time I go because they all sound good!
