The Best Music Venues in Huntsville
Table of Contents
The Orion Amphitheater

The Orion has amassed a list of far-reaching awards despite being one of the newer music venues in Huntsville.
The location was featured in Rolling Stone Magazine, nominated for Amphitheater of the Year for two consecutive years from IEBA awards, nominated for New Concert Venue of the Year from the Pollstar Awards, and recently named Top East Coast Amphitheater from Billboard Magazine.
The Orion is a popular location for community events as well as premier talent. A shortlist of artists that have performed here since its opening includes Styx, the Doobie Brothers, Smashing Pumpkins, and Willie Nelson, and already lined up for future performances are classics like Neil Young, the Steve Miller Band, Men Without Hats and Kings of Leon. While the venue has maintained a strong lineup of headliners, there are also events showcasing local and independent talent.
The Amphitheater has an 8,000-seat capacity in the heart of Huntsville’s Mid-City District, which is continuously growing.
Amphitheaters are designed to interact with the atmosphere, and their stellar sound quality is attributed to the venue’s natural shape and the materials used. The picturesque setting under the expansive sky lends to the overall experience for avid concertgoers.
If you’re interested in catching a show, be sure to check out the list of upcoming shows.
The Von Braun Center

A multi-purpose event center featuring an indoor arena, meeting space, and at least six venues, Von Braun has it all. With the arena’s largest seating capacity at around 10,000, it hosts everything from hockey games to major and minor label musical acts, often hosting at least two simultaneous concerts simultaneously!
Propst Arena is by far the largest venue. Its state-of-the-art digital audio and programmable LED lights make it a perfect spot to see big national acts. Acts such as Alabama, Hardy, Chris Tomlin, and even John Fogerty have graced its stage, and ZZ Top and Lynyrd Skynyrd will share the stage there in April 2024.
The Mark C. Smith Concert Hall is a fancier experience, ideal for Broadway Musicals and Symphonies, but is generally a great spot for listening to music you’d like to pay close attention to. Seating just shy of 2,000 guests, it’s recently hosted concerts by a diverse array of artists from the Gaither Vocal Band and Nickel Creek to our local Huntsville Symphony Orchestra.
There’s not a bad seat in the house at Mars Music Hall—it’s the best if you like to get close to the music. More broad than deep, Mars features an intimate live music experience, with an optional balcony view and an open floor plan below.
Popular country-rock band the Drive-by Truckers, indie rockers Pedro the Lion, and Christian rockers Switchfoot have all performed there recently. Upcoming concerts include Judy Collins, Extreme, and the Atlanta Rhythm Section.
If it isn’t clear that this is one of the best music venues in Huntsville, these are just three of the six venues in The Von Braun Center. I haven’t even touched on Rhythm on Monroe, Saturn Ballroom, and the Playhouse, smaller venues featuring various live acts throughout the year.
Stovehouse

Housed within the once thriving Martin Stove factory, the repurposed appliance mill is now home to an eclectic collection of eats, treats, and other businesses encircling what is known as the “leisure lawn food garden.”
The live music stage serves as the focal point with assorted laid-back seating options, from rocking chairs to swings, sunken seating lining most of the circumference, and picnic tables and pub tables available.
Stovehouse is one of the best music venues in Huntsville simply because it offers an array of live shows on its calendar, from folk and country to R&B and alternative rock. Oh, and most of the events are free!
The venue also features other entrance-ticketed live events, including DJs, dance events, and bands within the Electric Belle.
Lowe Mill

Lowe Mill Arts and Entertainment is the largest privately owned arts facility in the United States. In this converted shoe mill, you’ll find a mixture of traditional and eclectic art of all mediums and a wide-ranging spectrum of curated live music shows called Concert on the Docks.
The well-known and well-attended weekly concerts, held on Friday nights from 6-9 PM, have been an integral part of Huntsville’s live music scene since 2007.
Some of the reasons that it’s one of the best music venues in Huntsville is that the concerts are accessible, pet-on-a-leash, and kid-friendly. Costing only a ten-dollar-per-car parking fee, these concerts on the mill’s old loading docks overlook the lawn around the water tower and include fresh new local talent and regional and national acts.
The unique thing about these concerts is the laid-back atmosphere and the synergy between the performers and the audience, creating a more intimate feel.
Lowe Mill encourages everyone to bring a picnic and a carload of friends for these unique cultural events in Huntsville.
The Camp

The Camp has a unique, backwoods, eclectic vibe. If you are outdoorsy and love camping and hanging out under the sky, you’ll love experiencing live music at the Camp.
With the woodsy charm of the circular seating and the way the spaces connect like big campsites, you’ll feel right at home in your casual clothing.
The Camp hosts live performances every weekend, with beautiful skies peeking through the tent-like covering and the breeze among the trees, making it one of the best music venues in Huntsville.
The Camp has a full-service restaurant and bar, coffee shop, and food trucks with plenty of choices for sustenance and libations. Entertainment is provided most weeknights, with live music every weekend.
