Huntsville Leaders Approve New $7.5 Million Recreation Center
The City of Huntsville has awarded Chorba Contracting Corporation a $7.5 million contract to build a new recreation center on Martin Road near Zierdt Road.
The 27,350-square-foot facility will house a gym with two basketball and two volleyball courts, as well as four outdoor pickleball courts.
The design will be similar to the Mark Russell Recreation Center on Taylor Road.
“This facility will be a great addition for the City, particularly as west Huntsville continues to see so much residential growth,” said Huntsville Parks & Rec Director James Gossett.
Construction is expected to begin soon and is estimated to take a year. Once complete, Huntsville will have a total of 15 recreational and community centers across town.
