Celebrate National Ice Cream Month with Some of Huntsville’s Best Ice Cream Shops

July is upon us and that means it’s National Ice Cream Month! Whether you’re looking to beat the summer heat, get a cold treat with your kids, or find the perfect date night spot, ice cream is the perfect solution!

Luckily, Huntsville is home to a handful of great ice cream shops. We’ve dropped a list of a few favorites below.

  • Handel’s: 1303 Four Mile Post Rd SE
  • Oscar Moon’s Milkshake Bar: 3414 Governors Dr SW #505
  • Big Spoon Creamery: 201 Jefferson St N Suite J
  • Bruster’s: 2100 Cecil Ashburn Dr SE
  • The Cozy Cow: 100 Church St SW

If you’re looking for homemade ice cream, I’d suggest trying Handel’s. My wife and I go here at least once a week over the summer and can almost guarantee you’ll enjoy it.

For those that want ice cream with a bit of a twist, Oscar Moon’s Milkshake Bar is a great spot too. They have all sorts of whacky creations that are sure to hit the spot!

Big Spoon Creamery is new to Huntsville, but its menu boasts a variety of unique flavors, from classics like vanilla bean and chocolate to more adventurous flavors like lavender honey and goat cheese with blackberry jam.

Bruster’s offers a wide variety of ice cream flavors that are made fresh in each store. Some of the most popular flavors include Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Mint Chocolate Chip, Butter Pecan, and Black Raspberry Chocolate Chunk.

The Cozy Cow offers more than just ice cream and is the perfect spot for a quick bite to eat and a sweet treat to top it off. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic grilled cheese or a refreshing scoop of mint chocolate chip, The Cozy Cow has something for everyone.

Ice cream is one of my favorite desserts and these are some of my favorite ice cream shops in town. And in case you were wondering, it’s okay to celebrate a few times this month!
