Riley Green Concert: March 1
Kicking off our list of fun things to do in Huntsville in March 2024 is the Riley Green concert. If you’re a country music fan, Riley Green is set to perform at the VBC on March 1.
This is part of his Ain’t My Last Rodeo Tour, where he will perform some of his hits like Different ‘Round Here and Copenhagen in a Cadillac.
Tickets are on sale now and are starting as low as $30. This could be a great date night idea or a fun night out with friends!
Huntsville Comic Convention: March 1-2
If country music isn’t your thing, the Huntsville Comic Convention is another great option on our list of fun things to do in Huntsville in March 2024.
The convention will be at Lowe Mill from 11 AM-7 PM on Friday, March 1, and Saturday, March 2. Admission to the convention is free, though it will cost $10 to park.
The headliner for the event will be Sherrilyn Kenyon, who is the author of The Dark-Hunters and The League. She has over 80 million books in print and will be signing her books for free!
Some other notable guests include Tracy Yardley (Sonic artist), Samantha Newark (voice actress), Roberto Yun Rodriguez (animator, Scooby-Doo), and more.
Huntsville Havoc Hockey: 5 games
If you’re a hockey fan, the Huntsville Havoc hosts five home games during March. All of the games will start at 7 at Propst Arena, and each game has a different theme.
- March 2: Grateful Dead Night
- March 8: Trash Pandas Night
- March 9: Huntsville City FC Night
- March 22: Wrestling Night
- March 23: The Walking Dead Night

Huntsville City FC: 2 games
In case you don’t know, Huntsville now has its own MLS Next Pro team. Their second season kicks off in March, and there are two home games that you can attend.
The first game is on March 22, which happens to be the opening night for the Huntsville City FC. Then, there is another match on March 30. Both games will be played at Joe Davis Stadium and kick off at 7.
Tickets go on sale starting February 21 and can be purchased online.
While you’re at the game, you may notice that construction is beginning in front of Wicks Family Field for the new Stadium Commons development.
UAH Baseball: 8 games
Keeping with our sports trend, UAH has a handful of home baseball games in March. If you’re looking for free things to do in Huntsville in March 2024, this is a great option because admission to the games is completely free.
Here’s a quick rundown of the March schedule:

Rocket City Reading Fest: March 10
For reading lovers, our friends at The Orion Amphitheater are partnering with the Huntsville/Madison County Public Library to host the Rocket City Reading Fest on March 10.
This is a free event from 11 AM – 3 PM to celebrate National Reading Month. There will be tons of fun activities for kids to participate in to celebrate reading, along with food trucks so you can grab a quick bite to eat.
Here is a quick rundown of the schedule:
- 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Fantasy Playhouse Story Hour (ages 3-5)
- 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM Huntsville & Madison County Silent Book Club Meetup
- 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM WLRH Sundial Writers Corner Live Reading
- 1:30 PM – 2:15 PM Kids’ Sing-A-Long with Miss Calliope

Auburn Baseball vs. Troy: March 12
If you’re an Auburn fan, there is a great opportunity to see Auburn baseball play Troy at Toyota Field on March 12.
The first pitch will be thrown at 6:05 PM and tickets start at just $8. This is the third year in a row that Auburn has played a game in the Rocket City and is hopefully a tradition that will continue for many more seasons to come!
Before the game, be sure to swing by Honest Coffee in Madison for some of the best coffee in Huntsville.
Conference USA Basketball Championship: March 12-16
If you’re a fan of college basketball, one of the best things to do in Huntsville in March 2024 is the Conference USA Championship at the Von Braun Center.
The tournament will take place between March 12-16 and will feature over 16 games between the men’s and women’s teams.
The winner of the tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA March Madness tournament.

47th Annual Ellen McAnelly Memorial St. Patrick’s Day Parade: March 16
If you love St. Patrick’s Day, then you won’t want to miss the 47th Annual Ellen McAnnely Memorial St. Patrick’s Day parade in Downtown Huntsville.
The parade will be on March 16 at 11 AM and is free to attend. If you’d like to enter a float into the parade, you can do that on the Ellen McAnnely Memorial website.
Huntsville’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade was started in 1978 by Ellen McAnelly, who was the owner of Finnegan’s Pub before it closed down in 2013 after 36 years in business.
Alabama Baseball vs. Belmont: March 26
Wrapping up our list of fun things to do in Huntsville in March 2024 is another college baseball game. This time, the Alabama Crimson Tide will be taking on Belmont at Toyota Field on March 26.
The first pitch will be thrown at 6:05 PM and tickets are available for as little as $8.
Alabama is fresh off of a Super Regional appearance last year, so this will be a great chance to see them play before the tournament!
